Terrestrial Locust Shoulder
Concept
This area is a gentle up-slope bound on the North by a section of Riparian
South-West and an accompanying wet meadow and on the South a steeper slope that
is part of Succession West. It comprises some 1-2 acres. Predominant trees
include Black Walnut, Box Elder, and Green Ash; predominant shrubs include
Cranberry Viburnum, Gray Dogwood, Multiflora Rose, and Tartarian Honeysuckle, An
active reforestation effort is focused on creating a heavy grove of Black Locust
(including runners) that continues a current concentration of Locust just to the
East. Redbud and Flowering Dogwood are being introduced as well as additional
species Dogwood and Viburna.
